Northland Hunting Dogs

We spent a day performing some pre-season training and tuning up the pointing dog skills. It is surprising how much of last years training and "whoa" work remains intact. On this day in October, we had a "first ever" water retrieve for my pup on my left. She swam quite a distance to bring back that rooster pheasant- but it was worth the experience for her. It is important to reward great points with birds for your dog- (if your aim is spot on!). Most importantly if birds are intentionally flushed by your pointer don't shoot- you will reinforce that behavior for sure!
